The much awaited wedding ceremony between Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson and his charming Edo Prince, Odianose Henry Okojie has finally come to be today, Saturday, August 27, 2011.
The wedding ceremony was held at Pastor Chris Oyakhilome led Christ Embassy, contrary to the claim that the church top hierarchy has watched their hands off the wedding, and none of their pastors will officiate it.
Though, Rev. Chris Oyakhilome was conspicuously absent, we learnt that one of the church senior minister, Pastor Ton Obiazi officiated the service.
Prior to the wedding proper, it was alleged that the couple will make the wedding ceremony a hush-hush one because of the controversy trailing the groom’s marital status, but it was a carnival-like in Oregun, Lagos this morning when the wedding train moved to the Headquarters of the church (Christ Embassy) at exactly 12 noon amidst tight security .
The bride who looks very radiant and extremely beautiful in her white Satin wedding gown arrived in a white Hummer Jeep accompanied by four bodyguards and her father, Chief Johnson.
The bridesmaids were actress Chika Ike, Queen Nwokoye, pop star Goldie, Empress Njamah and Waje.
At exactly 12:09, the groom arrived in a white 3 piece white suit with a black shades.
As the church bands serenades the almost empty hall and the guest finding their way to their seats, the security get tighter as the wedding proper advanced.
Tension filled the atmosphere as the couple exchange marital vows at exactly 12:40 while the rings exchanged hands and the couple both said ‘I do’.
While the wedding was going on, an angry mad woman who identified herself as Mama Abiye started causing commotion at the church gate, claiming that too much money was put into the wedding.
However, she was denied entrance by the heavily equipped body guards positioned at the church entrance.
It would be recalled that, the couple exchanged vows at the traditional wedding ceremony held yesterday Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Nollywood actress’ family home in Oke Odan, Gospel Village, Iyano Isashi, Okoko, Lagos State
Mercy who hails from Kogi State was dressed in traditional beads and George wrappers which is symbolic of the Edo traditional attire for a woman getting married to an Edo Prince. Mercy will now adopt the title ‘Princess’ to her name having completed the traditional wedding.
