9ice

Bashorun Gaa &Versus album concert is the first solo concert of trado-contemporary singer 9ice, which held  on Sunday, March 11 2012 at the magnificent hall of Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The show which was expected to start with the red carpet by 7 pm didn’t start till around 10pm with the VIP and the VVIP section  expectedly parked full at the centre while both sides were left scanty with half of the seats begging for occupants.

The microphone  crackled into life as the hosts of the night, comedian Yaw and actress Funke Akindele, a.k.a Jenifa, bonded on stage with few comedy skits which threw the hall into fits of laughter before Funke announced the first performance  of the night.

Seriki aka Omo Owo (9ice protégé) was the first to come on stage and wowed the audience with his Undisputed, a song filled with rhythmic flows and lyrics parked with street lingo.

KCee of the defunct group – KC Presh also performed few of his new songs with Questionmark signed act, Harrysong backing him up on stage.

Unexpectedly, Wande Coal was prematurely introduced on  stage and he gave a good account of himself. He serenaded the crowd with his new songs, ‘Go Low’ and Been Long You Saw Me’. Though, his ever present sidekick, Special Ed was conspicuously absent (maybe due to the unrest in the Mo’hits camp), while his new sidekick was seen hovering around the stage effortlessly.

However, the main act of the night, 9ice was introduced on stage and the audience rose to their feet to welcome him as he danced with Wande Coal before he performed Everything with sexy Tiwa Savage who looked sassy in her multi-coloured short dress.

Tiwa Sava also performed her hit single, Love Me, Love Me, Love Me while the audience went gaga when 9ice called on Don Jazzy to come on stage to perform Without My Heart with her.

Pop sensation, Wizkid was not left out as he jumped on stage to perform On-Point with 9ice .

The Alapomeji head-honcho performed Gbamu Gbamu, No Be Mistake off his Tradition album while he performed all the way with P-Square while the twin brothers rock the stage with ‘Chop My Money’ with MayD.

Davido and his HKN Gang, ShinaRambo and B.Red weren’t left out as they held the stage tight for 8 minutes with hits like, Back When, Damiduro, e.t.c.

9ice with the Coded Tunes (ID Cabassa, JahBless, Reminisce, 2Phat and Lord of Ajasa)

Another great performance that shook the pillars of the hall was from the coded tunes clique, a group (includes, JahBless, ID Cabassa, Reminisce, 2Phat and Lord of Ajasa) which 9ice fell out with at the height of his fame. They literarily set the stage on fire and performed quite a number of the group’s melodious songs like Bere Mi and host of others.

Rap artiste Vector performed Angeli with 9ice and the whole audience sang along with the duo.

K1 De Ultimate

The ultimate performance of the  night came when Fuji King, K1 de Ultimate mounted the stage and performed some of his evergreen vibes like, consolidation  with his 13 man band. The wave of the excitement was ‘tsunamic’ as K1’s musical virus spread in the hall for about three hours.

While K1’s performance reached for the stars, some men believed to be 9ice pals stepped on stage, spraying both artiste with crisp 1000 naira and dollar notes for several minutes.

No doubt, Sunday, March 11, 2012 would be the biggest day of the Ogbomosho, Oyo State born singer as it was graced by many of his colleagues and friends in the entertainment industry.
