Fraudulent Life Of Auto Lounge Boss, Larry Onuegbu
***Why He Can’t Enter America Again
Auto Lounge Boss, Larry Onuegbu
While the Nigerian government works round the clock in its effort to proffer a lasting solution to the woes of advanced fee fraud, a.k.a 419, that has partly contributed to denying the country its rightful place in the committee of nations, some unscrupulous Nigerians are hell bent at throwing a spanner in the wheel of the government’s anti-corruption crusade by their tastes for shady activities.
Prominent amongst these recalcitrant Nigerians is Larry Onuegbu, the proprietor of Mega Point Autos and Auto Lounge in Lagos; a thriving automobile and hospitality business situated in the heart of the Lagos metropolis, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
For so long, the young businessman has, succeeded in shielding his double life from public view. While at one end, Larry fronts as an inspiring entrepreneur, the other side of him stinks.
Investigations have revealed that unknown to many people, Larry uses his auto business as a platform to buy and import stolen expensive cars into the country, refurbish them and sell to unsuspecting buyers. This big boy has reportedly been in the business for a couple of years now and has been able to escape the long arms of the law in Nigeria.
Perhaps Larry had thought his way of surviving via stealth would last forever until his recent failed scam on an erstwhile friend, Dumebi Kachikwu where he seriously got his fingers burnt.
Dumebi Kachikwu had, a few weeks ago, told Larry of his intention to purchase a Porsche Cayenne SUV 2012 edition as a surprise wedding gift for his former in-law and popular hip-hop, Naeto-C, and had inquired from Larry if he had any in his fleet of which Larry responded in the affirmative. He reportedly perfected this by buying a ‘used car’ and refurbished it with guarantee to his client that- it was the 2012 Edition.
Sources claim a clinical examination of the gift- and visits to Porsche mart to confirm the veracity of the seller’s assertion revealed the deceptive marketing strategy employed by Larry to sell the car. It was further confirmed that a director at financial institution, Zenith Bank, actually acquired the car brand new- and used it for a while before Onuegbu bought it off and later sold it to Dumebi as a brand new car. The SUV is currently with the police at Special Anti Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos.
As if that is not enough, the Commissioner of Police in Panti, Lagos, INTERPOL, and the Customs are now investigating all his fraudulent activities. We also gathered that the US Government has banned him because of his dirty deals.
Larry and Dumebi’s friendship had been with interesting episodes. According to a source, “Dumebi met Larry in the late 90s when he used to sell used tyres in Itire, Surulere, Lagos. Larry sold four used tyres to Dumebi and his friends and claimed they were new. He later returned the money when they threatened to report the matter to the police.
Four years after that, Larry flew to Abuja on a Saturday and asked Dumebi for 20 million naira adding that he had a problem with somebody and that he would pay him back in four months or supply a brand new Bentley to him for about 32 million naira. He bragged and bayed until Dumebi gave him the 20 million naira and asked him to deliver the Bentley. Dumebi also gave him a cheque for the balance of the money.
When Larry delivered the Bentley, it was noticed that the leather was worn so he called a Bentley dealer in the US to make enquiries. He was told that the car was two years old and it had done over 20,000 miles which meant that Larry had tampered with the mileage setting. They asked Dumebi to report the matter to the FBI since it was a federal offence.
Dumebi later asked Larry to return the money but he refused so he reported the matter to the EFCC.

The money was promptly returned with an apology.
Larry later prevailed on their mutual friends to talk to Dumebi on his behalf for almost two years. But this did not halt his sly ways because in December 2010, Larry sold a 2011 Infinity jeep to Dumebi and early this year, he sold another Infinity jeep claiming it was a 2012 model. It was just discovered that the two cars were both 2011, so he’d sold the same car, same model, and same color twice to Dumebi. He also sold a Mercedes Benz S63 for 30 million which turned out to be used. He has still not returned the money even though he has picked up the car.
In December last year, Larry sold a supposed 2012 Rolls Royce Ghost for 65 million to Dumebi. After the car stopped on the road twice, Dumebi called Rolls Royce and they said they had no record of the car.
The final nail in the coffin came recently when Larry delivered a Porsche car to Naeto C and claimed that it was a 2012 model. Larry didn’t let
Dumebi see the car before he brought it to the wedding reception. Dumebi later decided to ask Naeto for the VIN number of the car and when it was checked, they found out the car was a used 2009/2010 model, meanwhile Larry had sent an invoice claiming that the car was a 2011 model.
But Larry had been fighting back and giving flimsy excuses and defenses, but observers have some questions for Larry; “Why did his invoice say 2011 Porsche Cayenne if he is claiming Dumebi knew it was a 2009 car? Why was the car wrapped with white stickers and nylon if it was known to be a used car? Why would anyone pay 14 million naira for a used car with a different body shape when a new one with a different shape and warranties are sold for between 14 and 16 million Naira? Why has he been begging Naeto C to take the car?. Why did he tell the police that Dumebi never saw the car only to tell the press that Dumebi did? If he says Dumebi is owing him money for the Infinity why did he send a receipt for money received for the Infinity? Why has he been sending text messages at 6am in the morning begging Dumebi for financial assistance? Where did he buy the Rolls Royce he sold to Dumebi?
Why has he been banned from the entering America and how many times has he been arrested in the last 12yrs for similar offences? These are all queries Larry must answer” the source said.
